The Way Public Library offers free limited Notary Public services for the benefit of the community. The service is available by appointment during regular library hours.
Notary Guidelines:

Scheduling:
- Notary services are available by appointment only. Call 419-874-3135 ext. 119 to schedule.
Customer Requirements:
- Provide a valid, government-issued photo ID. The name on the ID must exactly match the name on the document.
- All parties, including witnesses, must appear in person.
- Customers must supply their own witnesses if needed; library staff and patrons cannot serve as witnesses.
- Documents must be unsigned prior to notarization and signed in the notary's presence.
- Documents must be fully completed (other than the signature) before arriving.
Documents Typically Accepted:
- Ohio Vehicle Titles (buyer’s name and address sections must be completed prior to notarization)
- Lease Agreements
- Driving Affidavits
- Temporary Guardianship Paperwork
- School District Proof of Residency Forms
- Retirement Documents
- Simple Legal Affidavits (e.g., separation agreements, divorce paperwork)
Documents Not Accepted:
Way Public Library does NOT notarize complex documents, or documents that could place the notary or the Library in legal jeopardy, including:- Vital records or certified copies (e.g., birth certificates)
- Real estate documents (mortgages, refinances, deeds)
- Immigration-related documents
- Powers of Attorney, Wills, Trusts, Living Wills, Codicils
- Documents in languages other than English
- Notary protests
- Documents requiring special legal expertise
Additional Limitations:
- Notaries cannot provide legal advice, interpret or explain documents.
- Limit of three documents notarized per appointment.
- Notaries may refuse service at their discretion for any lawful reason.
