About Youth Services
Youth Services Department
Welcome to the Way Public Library Youth Services Department. We offer a full range of experiences that meet the informational and recreational challenges of children from birth through age 14. We have created a warm and welcoming space for children to play quietly while parents visit with other parents and caregivers. Come in and enjoy a story in one of the Volkswagen bug chairs, play with the Thomas train, or select a few good videos for the weekend. Don’t forget about the books on tape for that long car ride.
For the young adults there are chalk-top tables for a quick game of tic-tac-toe or a bit of graffiti. All of the new and popular reads are available in hard back or paperback and many are available in audio format as well. Remember to check out the lower level computer lab after school.
Art from Children's Literature Collection
A visit into the Youth Activity Center is quickly becoming one of the highlights of a visit to Way Public Library. The library has recently been able to acquire several signed and numbered prints by children’s illustrators through financial gifts to the Way Library Foundation. These works are from children’s literature and the corresponding book is located next to each framed piece of art thus enabling boys and girls to visualize the concept of a picture becoming a picture within a book. You may visit the gallery during regular library hours when the room is not being used for programs. Here's a sample from the collection:
