Way Library and the League of Women Voters of the Perrysburg Area welcome Sam Nelson, associate professor and chair of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Toledo, for a talk on net neutrality.  Net neutrality refers to how internet service providers treat data as it moves through the infrastructure of the internet. Up until a recent decision by the Federal Communications Commission, ISPs were required by law to treat all data equally - customers were charged the same rates for data transmission and there was no price discrimination between big data consumers like Facebook and small consumers like local artists. This talk will examine what the long simmering debate over net neutrality is about and discuss the potential consequences of the recent FCC decision for our own everyday use of the Internet.
