“One chance meeting, two changed lives.”

In this heartwarming British comedy, Sarah Palfrey (Joan Plowright) is a newly independent widow who hopes to avoid a mundane existence in Scotland by moving to London where she can spend quality time with her grandson Desmond who works in the city. She gamely moves into a slightly stodgier than expected London retirement hotel and sets about making a new life for herself. Actual events don’t live up to her hopes, as Desmond can’t even be troubled to return her calls. A chance meeting with an impoverished young writer, however, leads to an unlikely but meaningful friendship and an unintentional deception.
