These five wonderful ladies meet at the Way Library once every week as facilitators for the Next Chapter Book Club. This unique book club, which started at OSU in 2002, nurtures the enjoyment of books for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community based and fun setting. The participants’ smiles and conservations indicate it is fun, indeed!
These five facilitators have much in common. All have been teachers in the elementary and secondary schools in the Toledo and Perrysburg area. And, they all enjoy the pleasure of reading a good book! Martha Farrell taught at Whitehouse Primary and is an active volunteer at Historic St. Patrick’s Church. She is especially enjoying her new granddaughter! Jenny Borgelt taught school at Rosary Cathedral and is the mother of 5 year-old Gracie. Jenny and her daughter and husband love to explore the outdoors, including kayaking and fishing, and have a garden plot at the 577 Foundation. Pat Thompson is the team leader for the group and keeps everyone organized and on task. In her free time, Pat teaches religious education at St. Rose Church and likes to engage in an intricate counted cross stitch project and go biking. Barb Burnett taught at Ft. Meigs Elementary School. She enjoys water aerobics, travelling to Atlanta to visit children and grandchildren, and loves to travel all over the world- including Japan and New Zealand. Annette Sipp taught at Perrysburg Junior High and has been retired for just one year. She loves to travel and has cruised to Italy and Greece. She has lots of energy and participates in Pickle Ball, the fastest growing sport in the U. S.
The staff of the Way Library would like to personally thank all of you, Martha, Jenny, Pat,
Barb and Annette, a truly dynamic team of educators. We are grateful that we are recipients of your amazing gifts of knowledge, kindness, fortitude, patience, and the ability to make everyone smile. Thank you for sharing your timeless skills with the Way Library and the members of the Next Chapter Book Club.
